When playing against Ash Zealot you just always want a creature rather than something that gives you 2-4 life.

@TomV: I’ve considered it, and High Priest of Penance is very good. I just thought I had enough cards for aggro that I didn’t need to devote additional space to it. It might be better than Blind Obediance.
