Dime a Dozen #102: Indulgent Aristocrats

Can Bloodbriar rack up kills in a Pauper League? Jason indulges in the sacrificing of Blisterpods to find out!

Enjoy!

  1. This is basically the other Bloodbriar deck I’ve been testing. Carrion Feeder has been unimpressive for me. Not being able to block really hurts against the aggressive decks and it’s a control players dream to get a 2/3 for 1 with their Bolt. Fume Spitter has been performing better but not great. Have yet to try out Viscera Seer. I’ve also tried Brindle Shoat and Brindle Boar to middling results, although Brindle Boar plus Grim Harvest is hard for aggressive decks to handle. Also been having problems with Bloodbriar being chumped, but I see you addressed that with Rancor.

Can’t watch the videos until later, maybe tomorrow. Wondering how the Carrion Feeders are going to perform for you in the videos. I’ll comment back after I’ve watched the matches. Got an uneventful weekend coming up, probably be playing some MTGO. If you see me let’s get some matches in.

  2. Glad to see Carrion Feeder, and the deck in general, was ‘meh’ for you too. Sometimes I wonder if the results I get are due to my bad plays and decisions or if the deck I’m playing is just bad. Realistically it’s probably both :(

I left this comment on the actual youtube video but I’ll repost it here:

Tranquility or Serene Heart can control Bogles but is it worth the sideboard space? Fume Spitter is a little better than Carrion Feeder in the Elves matchup, also Festercreep fits the theme as a Nausea/Shrivel effect and is good alongside Grim Harvest while also being good against the white tokens deck thats getting popular. Or Wail of the Nim if you’re worried about killing your creatures but it’s a bit overcosted. The Teachings matches would have went much differently had your opponent ever found Evincar’s Justice, that card is a nightmare alongside Edicts for our deck. Actually Wail of the Nim might be an ok sideboard card as a one damage wrath and a way to regenerate from Evincar’s Justice. I haven’t played against a mono blue deck like your opponents in round 4 yet but it seems like a good matchup as long as they don’t have a flier heavy draw. Affinity is scary because anytime after turn 5 or 6 you might just die to Fling from nowhere. I’m wondering if Bloodbriar might be best in a “Pigs and Bugs” shell (assuming you’re familiar with the deck). But slowing down the deck makes it even more of a dog to Drake decks so I’m not sure that’s really the way to go. This type of strategy just might not be viable right now. I think we’re going to have to shelve most of the cute/fun strategies until Drake gets the hammer. 30% of the meta currently………

  3. VanillaVillain – To be fair, I didn’t play very well in these matches either. It’s no Elves, but there are still a fair amount of decisions to make. Replied to the rest on YouTube. Thanks!
