Limited Resources: Innistrad Draft with Special Guest Jon Loucks

  1. You guys punt more than the Arizona Cardinals. Are match wins the “Limited Resource” you talk about on your show?

  2. i was in another isd-draft waiting in the finals for you to get there but you didn’t make it there either… perhaps switching between sets doesn’t suit you (which was pretty obvious looking at the color combo).

  3. So many punts make me sad :(

    You should have paid much less attention to leveling up your test subject and much more attention to the fact that your opponent was beating you down. Playing the almost meaningless wolf at the end instead of keeping up Corpse Lunge and Griptide was just bad. I still appreciate the content, but I hurt inside just a little bit now.

  4. I think you guys are missing the fact that these two have noticeably different approaches to playing draft, and as a result end up mixing strategies which overall lessens their deck’s power. This draft honestly felt like their version of LRR draft in that aspect (Marshall: “Ludevic’s Test Subject is awesome!”).

  5. Hate to be that guy…but 17:32 Round 1 you could have played the Murder of Crows off the mana from the Deranged Assistant and Shimmering Grotto. That would give you 3BB.

  6. Whoa, this last game: how to make each decission bad, so your opponent can win from unwinable position :). I guess it just shows that everyone sometimes loses in a comic way.

  7. @anonymous Yeah… haha so bad.

    @Jason Gray Put on your crash helmet.

    @Frizzell66 but it’s more than one!

    @Godot Listen Go Dot, once you start putting up some draft videos I’ll allow you to talk! (and yes, yes it is..)

    @nice one Nice. One.

    @fifthchild Yeah, he got us :(

    @knx Perhaps not

    @dave1981 Yeah, that seems to be the most popular part of this particular draft.

    @Jack I think you are overstating that part :) I liked our line there, but of course our loose play cost us the match later. It happens. Not thrilled with it, but it happens.

    @maestro Actually it was Jon who was most excited by Test Subject, but I love that card too :)

    @broncoturbo Don’t be that guy, it doesn’t really add anything to the conversation. Also, Crows cost 3UU.

    @MiM Yup. I’m sure you have made mistakes that you wouldn’t normally make because you were streaming. Now double that. Bringing on someone else makes for interesting videos, that’s for sure :)

  8. Hey, you guys stumbled into my strategy for drafting Innistrad. Dark Ascension was such a pile that I would ignore previous picks and exclusively draft the best card available. Then when Innistrad packs roll in, I’d start drafting a deck (either GW, WB, RG or RB, preferably). This format is way too fast for three color greed decks. I’m about to watch the matches now, but I have a feeling that a deck with a good curve will flip you guys. This is maybe the first time that I’ve seen an Ana deck that isn’t self mill with Spider Spawning.

  9. Marshall: “What do you think of the new client?”
    Jon: “I, uh, I, well, I see a lot of potential. It could definitely be better.”

    Translation: The new client is terrible and if I didn’t just get a shiny new job from Wizards to work on said client I’d be tearing it a new asshole. Change isn’t always bad, but barely functional change for change’s sake is rarely good.

  10. @Bad4theGame Jon has gone on record from long before he got hired on at Wizards that he likes the new client though it has its rough spots, and listening to the latest podcast where he spends an hour and a half about how he plans on bettering the client shows the listener that he truly cares about the product Wizards is attempting to produce. I’d even say he probably wouldn’t have gotten the job if he didn’t feel as genuinely as he did about the subject.

  11. All the comments on how they punt the last game, but no comment on how they almost win the first game despite a mulligan to 5 and the other player getting a great hand.
