  1. You got to keep the mirror entity because it made the old man a 6/6. Then they both dropped back at the same time

  2. R2G2: Old Man of the Seas play. You got to keep the Mirror Entity because the ability also made your Old Man a 6/6. But what I actually wanted to mention is that your opponent should have activated Mirror Entity for 3 after blocks. That way, he still has three mana open so you can’t steal anything with the Old Man.

  3. R2G2 also, your opponent played a second main city of traitors, but had they played it before combat they’d have forced the old man to chump block (threatening activation for 15 dmg, before old man got rid of summoning sick).

  4. Some of the opponents made some serious misplays in this draft, like the second round opponent not using his mirror entity with city of traitors, and the 3rd round opponent missing cursed scroll activations.

  5. That third round opponent seemed to be tilting. Wish i could have read what he said, tilted opponents are hilarious.

  6. I don’t even understand what kezzerdrix’s point is. Do sheep always 3-0 a single elimination cube draft? Baaaa baaaaaaa

  7. That Old man/Mirror Entity interaction was one of the coolest blowouts I’ve seen in a draft. Just plain awesome.

Good draft Marshall. I have to say I’m not sure why you’ve had so many problems with the beta crashing. I’ve been using it since I started playing MTGO and have never had a crash. Definitely has a major memory leak and lags like a mother after a couple hours of play but that’s the biggest problem I’ve had.

  8. I’m pretty sure that the Old Man / Mirror Entity play was a MODO bug. The opponent activated Mirror Entity’s ability, and therefore is the controller of the ability on the stack. Stealing the source of the ability should have no effect on the ability that’s already on the stack. The opponent’s creatures should have been 6/6s and Marshall should have just had a 1/1 tapped Entity.

  9. kezzendrik is trying to pull off a one man army boycott of cube draft because he feels like payout is not good. But why boycott one of the funnest formats the game has to offer, that i might add not everyone gets the chance to play. its also a learning video that tons of people enjoy watching. i personally love watching cube videos i scour the net looking for these things the format is so freaking cool and there is really no limit to the things you can do. bottom line is if you dont like the payout dont play but your personal opinion will not sway the thousands of people who love to draft cubes.

  10. sorry marshal i forgot to add the video was fantastic as usual. Really dont care for the new client though.

  11. Marshall, I love the videos! I always enjoy watching you play cube, even though I don’t play myself (personal decision based on payout, I don’t see any reason to boycott). I would love to see an IPA video if you’re up for it!

  12. Old Man and the Sea loses control when the thing he’s controlling has greater power than him, but Mirror Entity increased Old Man’s Power by the same amount as its own. Mirror Entity’s power was 6, Old Man’s was 7. I’m not seeing where the bug is as far as that goes?

I’m less sure about the trigger on the stack – does “you” on the card check who “you” is when the effect resolves perhaps?

  13. Stealing the Mirror Entity shouldn’t have worked out like that. The controller of the ability should be the one that gets the effect, not the current controller of the source since abilities exist independently of their source. The folks over at Cranial Insertion gave the same answer to a question of similar effect.

  14. like your videos but i’d like to see some variety when you’re drafting cube. p1p1 goblin guide seemed like a good opportunity to draft mono red and could’ve been a good how-to video. especially since the red deck made it to the finals. now you’re just showing the deck you like to draft instead of showing other possibilities and teaching newer players

  15. why are you so intent on picking up mana fixing for every colour combination other than the one you’re in?

  16. Nice draft videos man, big fan and they’ve got me interested in Cube (or which I’m doing well at, which I place entirely on this sites videos).
For the mirror entity thing, it seems to me that the reverse of the stack would be:
    1) old man takes mirror
    2) mirror ability resolves, meaning creatures on the same side as entity. Marshalls opponent was ‘trying’ to activate the ability, and it would happen similarly to if the creature was killed in response. The ability goes on the stack but never resolves because the situation has changed.

  17. The question is what gets put on the stack:
    1. “OpponentName’s creatures get +X/+X”
    2. “Current controller of Mirror’s creatures get +X/+X”

We know from discussions of Perplexing Chimera that if control of a *spell* switches sides while on the stack it goes into effect as if the new owner had cast it (e.g. creatures come into play on their side of the board), so it’s possible effects work the same way? Or that a MODO bug causes effects to work the same way?
