  1. I can’t imagine what made you think that double queueing while you were recording a video was a good idea. The constant switching was distracting and didn’t improve the “learning” experience that this site is supposed to present.

  2. @Evan (and basicly everyone watching) while triple- or even quadruple- queing is a part of my normal Mtg:O routine I never do that if I record a video – for the reasons you mentioned. This one was a little different though, as it was kind of a last minute thing we did. The standard daily i was finishing only “gets in the way” of round 1 and it takes something like 40 seconds of the “screen time”. Just enough that I don’t time out there. In next rounds, as you will find out, nothing gets in the way.

That all being said, I could (and probably should) just record round 1 of the replay. Again, that also being said, I hope these 40 seconds don’t ruin the experience, and that you will forgive me as I’m still a little new to all this :)

  3. I also had a problem with the double queue, and only watched round 1 (and stopped, because I didnt want to watch you play 2 at once throughout the whole thing.) having someone tab out of the game ruins the immersion, and makes the viewer feel like he/she is not your focus.

I am curious as to why you would side in the Quasali’s specifically, in round 1, and then not play them to combat his Vial/Seas… ?

  4. Game 2 i had an insane hand that would trump any normal or even very good draw from him. I didn’t know if he plays snags at all, let alone expect 2. Pridamage wouldn’t change anything here, and i was wining this game easily even through one snag.

In general: it’s not like cat is a dedicated hate, he’s just an okay beater, that happens to take out irritating cards (vial and seas), and you side out blood moon anyway.

As to “double queing” i explained everything above, and no i don’t plan on repeating that.

  5. Is there somewhere I can see the rest of game 3 in round 2? The video ends as you are getting ready to try your blood moon after he did not counter the knight, I was just interested in seeing if it got through and basically if that was in fact the right time to go for it.

  6. I’ve just checked round 2 and it definitely ends in my opponent conceeding, so something might be wrong with your player or connection, double check it if you can :)

  7. Your premature ending is possibly a Youtube/Firefox issue. It’s been playing up for a few days now.

Those of you complaining about the double-queueing – grow up – its a fraction of 1% of the video time. And as for it ruining the immersion in a play-by-play? I think you need to go read more books or watch more movies.

  8. Re: the double queuing. Many people (including myself) have a philosophical problem with double queuing, and seeing it recorded (however briefly) really irritates them. The above commentators don’t mention this specifically, but I think it comes through in their tone. Even the universally loved and admired LSV took a bunch of flak when he recorded a vid while double queuing.

Quite frankly, double queuing (and triple or quad queuing even more so) is simply maximizing your free time at the expense of others. Yes, some do it more efficiently and more respectfully than others, but they are the exception rather than the rule. I understand the multiqueuing is the norm for modo grinders (you have to do it to even attempt to “profit” from playing mtgo on a time-spent basis) and is adopted from online poker where it is also the norm. However the translation is imprecise. I was hardly the best multi-tabler online, but the decisions in online poker are so much easier 95% of the time that I could easily sit at 8 tables without causing as much “opponent time drain” as I do sitting at a single extra seat on modo.

If you must multi-queue (and I’m sure this rant wont change anyone’s opinions) please be as respectful of your opponent’s time as possible, since you are gaining your EV boost at their expense. And PLEASE understand that a large segment of any audience for your recordings loathes the practice.

re: the actual deck. Bloodmoon seems reasonable in modern but bloody jund just seems so much better conceptually, allowing a similar creature base (especially since fetch based offense and bloodmoon is a nombo) and disruption in the form of discard that allows you to resolve bloodmoon more easily. Could you talk a bit more about why you think Zoo is the right shell for it?

  9. Is Countryside Crusher too terrible to consider it? it has some interesting synergies with KotR and Domri.

  10. Again thanks for the comments, just shortly: I’ve tried countrysde but it was pretty terrible as just a 3/3 usualy, much worse than actual Knight of Reliquary. BUT i did make a total remodeling of the deck (how could i not see how obviously Burning-Tree Emissary is in this deck) and currently testing it with satisfactory results. This weeks Weekly Daily will be block but i might record the new Bloody Zoo for another week just before the last 2 online PTQ’s.

About double/tripple/whatever queing, I usualy play pretty fast while doing that (i had matches when my opponent timed out while I was tripple queing), so I don’t see a problem other than the kind of approach: I can’t do it so i will be angry at him doing it.

Again: I will obviously not multi on movies again.

Cya next week with Domri Dudes for Block Constructed!

  11. Hey I really like this deck (or more the midrange versions you were playing before). Found it has a lot of play to it and just plain fun. Just swapped out the bloodbraids in your old deck for 1 huntmaster, 1 thrun, 1 resto angel, 1 Olivia and 1/2 thundermaw for a batterskull (despite not being as good with domri). Also added an overgrown tomb to be able to use deathrite’s black ability more often. The resto seems weakest but untapping a knight for a block is good fun and being able to attack in the air with a sword is great. I played with a mirran crusader for a bit but found it great when equipped with a sword and just ok other times. Also switched a light and shadow for a fire an ice. You may want to try a sejiri steppe instead of a gavony for surprise factor. It turns a knight into a mother of runes and can help punch through the last few points of damage. I’m still not sure about burst lightning and have been tempted by dismember since I have a bit more life gain and black sources.

I’m still running the 2 qasali’s main but would love to find something better – thalia, burning tree or maybe even a lotus cobra.

I’ve liked your leylines and spellskites against mono red and rg aggro and although I haven’t tried it I would love to be able to shutout a gifts using leyline :-) also I’ve enjoyed having path to exile in the board that I side in most times that blood moon comes out (most mono or 2 coloured red decks I don’t mind ramping)

Let me know your thoughts on the changes and hope you try out the midrange again!

  12. In the world od living end and scapeshift midrange has no life. I was running modified Kibler’s versionand it was okay, but in non combo meta – next weekly daily is gona be with it. Im considerign Infect for current meta.
