  1. I enjoyed watching the games, however, it does become difficult to listen to the amount of complaining you do. I know its just part of who you are and we all get frustrated with bad draws and mana flooding, but it would make for a more enjoyable video with less complaining. I only say this because I noticed it in one of your other videos as well. I hope you take that as constructive criticism and not some type of personal attack. Thanks for the content and keep up the good work.

  2. You complained about 80% of the video time. When you say something like “if the shuffler decides to hate on you, there’s nothing you can do” that’s fine. But complaining every single draw step is really bad. Against monored you do seem favoured but you’re more bound to flood than him and your manabase can make you lose. G1 you flooded and he easily won. G2 you flooded but still won anyway because he flooded as well and you’re more likely to flood than him. G3 he had a good draw and could easily have won and yet you still complained.

R2 your complaining restarted pretty soon. You were complaining about both matches when you actually won the first one! UW seems a pretty bad match up anyway so at least you got flooded and actually lost on a bad one instead of a good one.

R3 and 4 you faced 2 nayas there were probably favourable to you and you even got paired down in the last round. You ended up 3-1ing losing to one bad match up. Please tell me how unlucky you are.

Also in the middle of so much complaining you play distracted and miss obvious plays. Maybe you should focus more on playing correctly. Also it’s pretty funny that you side in an Armada Wurm and at the same time take out 1 or 2 vines (and I don’t remember if you did the same when you sided in Angel). That just can’t be correct.

  3. Now, now, now…

How prone to exegerattion an internet commentator might feel if he feels his opinion can be backed up. 80% complaints, now that must be monotone. So, I watched some of the videos again, and got some observations of my own.

Is saying that you’re unlucky when you draw 15 lands in 20 cards a complaint? I just say it’s naming a fact: I drew terribly (both games against UW when a little less unluck was enough to beat him easily, and i also drew terribly enough to be thrown away from a nearly won game against mono red). I feel that you need to name the situation you’re in for the clarity of anyone watching. And the situation over first two round was: luck screws me all around, conveniently round 1 opponent wasn’t too good and i had an insane matchup.

Let’s go further, like in match 3, where i draw an elephant to pump my both experiments to 4/4′s and immedietly be in wining spot after this i state that “I got very lucky here, at last”. Because that was the truth, game could go either way in this match, and this draw basicly won it for me.

if i made any poor choices i asure you it wasn’t because of tilt. I just ran a completely new version of the deck to me, and some situations were fresh. Some of the choices in them might be debatable, yes.

So, how unlucky did i get @Shooter? Quite. Just enough to not be able to take advantage of my UW’s opponents Verdictless draw and his poor card choices (Table of the Guilds, rly?). Is chosing the right deck for the meta (trumping nayas, mono reds, agro BG’s or junds) considered luck? No, that’s a part of the skill. Your asking two seperate questions in one sentence there.

The choice i made btw I don’t necesserely feel is still the right one still. Revelation seems to be having a huge comeback, and some kind of rakdos return deck might be better right now (i might try BWR soon), than just rocking naya, but that’s completely different story…

Finaly. What kind of commentary would you imagine when i draw monoland over turns 5-12 to be thrown out of the game? An anegdote, maybe? Yeah, maybe that’s better, I’ll try to say an anegdote next time.

  4. Thanks for the vids. That misplay in the last match where you gave him the opportunity to fight your medic was pretty poor, but you got lucky against him in the final game to still pull out the win.

I’m very much hunting for a block deck that is not mono red and not sphinx’s revelation, so the deck is definitely of interest to me. I have a few questions about the list though. I think you’re 100% correct that “aggro naya” is a bad place to be due to mana issues, and the fact that aggro gets punished the most for mana issues. I feel like your deck is still trying to be a bit too aggro though. You run 7 one drops, one of which never does more than attack for two, and also the playset of BTEs with almost no way to take advantage of it. Gatekeeper vine isn’t the most explosive follow up imaginable :). I’d be interested in your thoughts on a list more focussed on skaarg guildmage (a blocking speedbump vs aggro, a win-con which can haste-attack after 6 mana in the slower games) and spark trooper (buys you time vs aggro to hit armada wurm mana, hits hard after a verdict vs UW and has amazing synergy with domri if your opponent only has tapped creatures out). I’m testing that atm and it feels really good, but have yet to have the opportunity to play it in a daily yet.

  5. I’ve lost faith in block. Between mono red and revelation there is so little space. I’m nor sure if there exists a deck that can beat both. Maybe i should try version with your suggestion, but for now mainly: Dashed Hopes.

  6. Yeah, don’t try my suggestion, it still loses to revelation lol. I took it to a couple of dailies and it wasn’t pretty.

I am, however, having success with royal’s BWR deck. It’s extremely well positioned vs both mono red (reckoner, mugging, dreadbore, mortars, high priest, alms beast are all nightmares for that deck) and revelation (slaughter games, rakdos return, keyrunes, obzedat). It’s becoming popular enough that people are now meta-ing against it with decks like bant creature control and jund aggro, but it’s at least shaken the meta up a bit and given an option outside of those two extremes.

Unfortunately, though, it doesn’t seem that our pal domri has a home in the meta :(. I’m a huge fan of naya colours, but I can’t get them to work atm. I think it needs some 2 mana ramp that isn’t gyre sage.
