M:tG Cribbs #19: Bant Hexproof in Standard

  1. FYI Ryan, if you Fog on upkeep and opponent draws and casts Skullcrack on his main phase, your Fog would still do nothing. It doesn’t matter what order they go in, Skullcrack’s “it can’t be done” wins. Obviously you ended up winning regardless, so congrats there.

  2. Why were you worried about Skullcrack in M4G4? It doesn’t interact with Fog at all? Did I miss something?

  3. When would you bring in the Voices? I think it’s reasonable against RDW, but I also get that the deck is such a tight configuration that you basically just want to make small tweaks and not mess too much around with the core of it.

  4. Thanks for your comments everyone. And thanks Chris, I didn’t think about it at the time but you are right about Skullcrack always trumping a Fog, no matter in which order they are cast. To Devon, Skullcrack also says damage can’t be prevented, so it basically counters a fog. To Martin, the voices are for UWR, UW, and UB control match ups. I didn’t have them in the board for awhile but then I saw more Ub lists popping up with lots of sacrifice affects, and Voice is very good against those.

  5. Hey man, I liked this video. I usually find standard crazy boring… as an example, bant control is just slow and plodding, not that fun to watch. This and your crazy Bruna deck were by far the most fun to watch. In fact, anything that’s not so mainstream is fun. Maybe a barter in blood/blood artist build would be nice to see.

  6. Nice videos Ryan. My only comment would be that you go to a doctor, you cough and snore with the nose too much!
