  1. Cool matches! My only other comment is about your audio – I had a hard time hearing you unless I turned my speakers up almost all the way. Is that normal, happenstance, new mic?

  2. Great set of matches. That deck looks like a blast to play, even if it can be mentally taxing.

  3. this deck looks /awesome/
thanks for the videos, I always love your commentary

  4. What is the thought process involved with taking out aether adept and not boarding in stingerfling against the miracle deck? The stingerfling in particular seems like an auto include, but both have good synergy with podding them back up after a terminus for great value.

  5. correct me if I’m wrong buy M1G2 he uses Gideon in his turn, then on your turn you draw a birthing pod and use it to sacrafice strangleroot geist (in order to get the deciever exarch etc.). when the undying trigger resolves you get a new card, that is the 3/2 strangleroot geist is not the same guy as the 2/1 you just sacraficed – dosen’t that mean that the geist can attack Tamyio? after all, it was not there when Gideon used his effect the previous turn.

I mean, Gideon targets the specific creatures target player control when he is actuvated, right? meaning that creatures that only came to the game later are not affected?

or do I have this totaly wrong? :P

  6. The ability is target opponent, not creatures. So no, he can not attack with a flickered/undying creature.

  7. @ Carrotus: Gideon doesn’t target creatures, it targets a player, you still control the geist.

Relevant Text: “During target opponent’s next turn, creatures that player controls attack Gideon Jura if able.”

This looks much better than just the RG aggro shell with swords. I pounded that deck online this weekend and it was solid, but not spectacular, and it struggled vs. sun titan decks without the aid the the resiliency image and pod provide in this deck.

We only got to see half your board, since you only played vs. control, it seems like there might be place for a hellrider in their though as a mid-pod defacto burn creature. If RG aggro is further suppressed by a resurgence in control decks then the Act slot might be a place to fit one in?

  8. I’ve been playing a version of this deck for about 2 months and it is definitely quite powerful, but also very very hard to play correctly. The thing I love about the deck is that it can win under conditions that look completely unwinnable, i.e. your opponent can go Consecrated Sphinx, Karn, Grave Titan, and still not have the win locked up (beating this involved Thrun, Wolfir Silverheart, and an Image copying Silverheart). But you can also screw yourself by making the wrong decisions, even things as simple as which land to play on turn 1 (not always copperline gorge).

As a side note, basically any time you think you should board out Aether Adept, you shouldn’t. I’ve regretted it every single time (and gone so far as to play Mist Raven in my latest build as it’s quite good against delver).

  9. Cool looking deck, but I have the volume turned up all the way and I can barely hear you.

  10. Game One Round Two you punted hard by conceding. You hadn’t cast a spell that turn and you had two hunt masters that would have flipped and killed him on upkeep.

  11. Thanks for all the constructive comments guys! I have a few responses to make to the lot of you:

First, sorry the sound was low! I have a new mic and it was set to reduce background noise and I guess it ended up being too low overall. I’ll change that for next week.

The deck is mentally taxing to play (especially for long periods of time), and it turns out that in the PTQ the day after the WMCQ, mistakes cost me both games in my 4th round. D:

AEther Adept hasn’t been overly impressive for me and it’s especially lackluster when drawn which makes me very hesitant to add a Mist Raven in addition.

The version I played in the WMCQ can be found here: https://twitter.com/#!/theshipitholla/media/slideshow?url=pic.twitter.com%2FTGEjxWIf

I made a few modifications from my experience in the DE and revamped the sideboard completely. I’ll check back here to answer any more questions or comments you might have.

  12. My version is a little heavier on blue and less on red so casting Adept and Mist Raven are not as much of a headache, but my experience has definitely been that Adept at least is worth keeping in.

  13. Gogo MiCOOL! I read about your finish- good work, sir. I imagine that it was also pretty satisfying to play rug pod, despite some pitfalls. I enjoy your videos very much. I’ve noticed that your dry sense of humor doesn’t have as much of a presence as of late though.

  14. I know this is maybe more i want say but, why the hell you dont play predator ozoe? x1 and change addept or magic, too make it more undiying, like pyre heart and storm geist, change mage and ranger.

Tell me if it rules with that, Ozoe predator is maybe now the best option vs control and bonefire.

  15. I’ve been playing a lot online with various G/Rx pod builds and I haven’t found a good strategy to combat the Solar Flare decks, seems like I just loose to a few DOJ, or an image to stall and a resolved Sun Titan.

  16. In M1G3 on that turn you are really tanking with 3 lands and 3 manamen in plan, what do you think of the line of casting Strangleroot, podding that into Exarch, and podding that into Thrun, paying life both times so you can leave up regen mana. Plays around DoJ but not Terminus, but it seems like you don’t have a lot of options regarding Terminus anyway.
