  1. LittlestMorte is a reference to the french phrase for orgasm, I believe (La petite mort).

  2. I gotta quit being sarcastic – yes, I know: “the little death.”

  3. Please read and answer all my questions Trav :)

First of all: could you maybe upload the games in which the guys are quitting much to early aswell? I would definitely like to watch them.
Also you’re never getting a game with no quitters so might aswell…

The deck is pretty nice so far. Though about Mana Flare but then noticed it’s not an artifact. ;)
Also for more carddraw you could add Seer’s Sundial but not sure if it’s needed.

On your play: I really don’t see why you didn’t just copy your Gauntlet and go infi with the Spine on their face. I was really sad when you sacced the Gauntlet just to get one more of his guys instead of just saccing the other spine, letting the important guys survive and then get him with the Spine loop.
Other than that and your obv. missplays well played sir.

    Last question:
Are we going to see a new deck every week?
If so please upload all the footage of the decks you got available even if your opponents quit turn 5 or so.
Your decks are just that interesting to me.

  4. Interesting deck. I hope I find the time to test the format out at some point. eXXa, your avatar is creeping me out; no offense but it looks like the application picture for a gay wrestling contest.

Keep the vids coming and show us more of your jovial side!

  5. eXXa, never be ashamed of your dysmorphic chest; in fact, the name chest coast may be a better name!

    ANSWERS:

I have some really hilarious freak out vids from people, but I feel it a bit unethical to post them – as people are generally unaware I am making a video in the first place. Humor is a key element to these vids – by the end of my old series it was much more about me just talking than it was about what I was playing. So I don’t think I will be posting those, as they really aren’t showcasing the deck to its ceiling and it will just expose people for the crazy wartime hero fools they are.

Mana Flare helps everyone, which is not what I am after. Seers sundial is slooooooooooooow and much better in a deck that can reliably get mana – unlike this one.

I don’t remember the play you are discussing nor am I arrogant enough to watch 3 hours of myself playing magic, so I will just say, “Dunno.” I don’t always make the right or best plays, and my play style is def risk over reward. There had to be some reason behind it, if even “I didn’t wanna just loop cheez dude(s) out.”

Still in congress with Kool and company about regularity of posts. My job is winding down until the fall so I could fart these out weekly – there are two already waiting on Academy’s FTP. I suppose if enough of you clang your pots and pans you can make it so. And, in my last vid which should post in 2-3 weeks, I try and cheer up and be a little less grumpy. It was not easy, but let’s see if it makes the difference!

  6. Why are we discussing avatars now?
You like your face so it’s your avatar, I like my upper body so it’s mine and this Marc guy doesn’t like himself at all so he uses a weird looking geometry fetish thingy.

So to stay on topic: can’t you censor the freakouters names and post the vids anyway?

And I got also an idea: everytime you don’t know what to talk about you could talk about Magic news like the new Commander decks or even the bannings of Jace and SFM.
Especially you opinion on the Commander precons would interest me.

  7. There was a second, longer game vid, but it’s not uploading; trying to work on it now, but it’s not lookin; hot.

  8. glad to see you keeping up with the series!

slobad definitely could use chaos warp when it comes up.

I feel like your deck packs too few removal.

  9. Hmm, too few removal… There’s a handful board sweepers (like I said you can also go with ‘Haups if you don’t mind being reviled and having people quit). Beyond that there’s synergistic removal – Spine w/ Slobad, Latice w/ Spree, Lux Cannon w/ Ring of Bright hearth. Then we have Duplicant and SoFI. Beyond the fact that your cards generally are just better, faster, and scarier, spot removal, as such, isn’t really needed. This is a tight build, and you will find that any non-artifact spells you play only make the deck weaker. Play it first and I think you will be surprised. Think of it more like combo, not like a utility deck.

  10. I recently watched most of your vids and I’m quite a fan of the presentation, so keep up the good work!

Regarding this particular game… aside from the more obvious misplays…
    - You could have legend ruled away the Sliver Overlord with your Sculpting Steel while you still had the Mycosynth Lattice.
    - I don’t see why you’d not let Energy Flux wreck the boards of the other two dudes at the cost of “only” half your own board. It’s not as if that Crystalline Sliver was going anywhere. Well, that is, until he suicided it into your board… so I guess it worked out.
    - I wouldn’t scry Nevinnyral’s Disk to the bottom when it might be your only out against aforementioned Crystalline Sliver (again, not counting on your opponent just throwing it away like that).
    - Why sac your Gauntlet of Might rather than a Spine of Ish Sah or the do-nothing Crystal Ball? With two spines and a gauntlet it’s not like you had to dig for action or mana.

Also… people generally like to play their deck, so I’m not surprised they scoop when you blow up all their lands with ye olde Mycosynth Lattice + Karn, Silver Golem (or Jokulhaups). I guess the dudes playing such competitive decks as Sliver Overlord or Zur, the Enchanter shouldn’t be allowed to complain, but there’s just no way Hazezon Tamar is ever going to beat that.

    Anyway, good show!

  11. It’s nice to see red get a little shine in commander, the deck seems well-tuned.

Re: the quitters, why not post up on this site a couple days in advance of when you play the games, and see if some site readers want to join in. They will probably be less likely to quit and if they suck we can collectively rip on them.

Also, can you post up the decklists in these articles? It can’t be much work compared to all the other time that goes into this series and it’d be nice to be able to scroll down to see the decklist while watching the matches play out.

  12. Thanks for the feedback guys! I wish you could see the second game, 158 mins in total, that was corrupted on the ftp transfer somehow. This game was most definitely a poor one on many accounts, and was supposed to juxtapose the second vid handsomely, but alas. We can only post 50% of my intended content on this deck; which had me commenting on this game in particular. And this game was epic! Upheavals! Reversals! Oh sad and evil Fate!

Quick aside, I played and filmed 9 hours of games to get only two vids – one being this very video. It was nigh impossible to find decent players who did not freak out and/or mount the soap box.

I will take the decklist idea into consideration. As I have said in my first vid from my long hiatus, I have little time to dedicate. But I want the videos to be helpful, not just me ranting and gibbering like some mad old coot armed with cardboard beasties!

Again, thanks! I was getting worried at the low comment count on this one. Strangely, I have had more people comment me in game than on the site on this vid.

This deck is one of my favs! A true beast with lots of nice challenging aspects that can be tuned up or down depending on your preference and/or play group. I wish you could see the stronger showing… But thanks for the insights into the myriad play mistakes. Sometimes I get so caught up in my talking that I play like a baby man panda. I have a vid coming up in a few weeks where I totally botch a game I have locked by making fun of my future in-laws. I wanted to showcase the hilarity. Stay tuned!
