Announcing “Draft Doctor”: Your Draft in the Spotlight

March 21, 2010 by: General

Hello everyone,

If you have been following our articles and videos for a while you may have noticed that we have many competent, competitive players sharing their decks and drafts with you.   Maybe you have even tried one of our training videos where you can build a deck first and then watch the instructor doing the same to compare the two.   If not you can find them here and here.

In my last draft walkthrough:”ZZW 84 #1” we used a new draft viewer that allows for comments during the picks.
To bring you some more training possibilities we are introducing “Draft Doctor.”   We would like to encourage beginners that want to improve their drafting skills to send us a recent draft they did online.  We will then publish the draft and give you valuable insight into the though process of an experienced drafter that will comment on all your picks and give you recommendations for improvement.  This is all free and a top opportunity for you too start winning more packs!  The only requirement is that you are a registered member.  Additionally, we prefer an M10 or ZZW draft from a less experienced player.   Here is how it will work:

1.)  Make sure that the draft recorder in Magic Online is set.   You can do that under “Menu/Personal Settings/Gameplay and mark the checkbox “Enable Draft Recorder.”  Your draft will then be saved in text format on your computer and can usually be found under C:\Documents and Settings\”username”\My Documents\Games\Magic The Gathering Online\Drafts.

2.)  Simply draft, or if you already have saved drafts, send it to marin@mtgoacademy.com.  Please provide the following information with the text file:
a) Your MTGO name
b) Your first name so we can address you properly
c) How you did with the deck
d) Any other info you deem important (such as your experience with the format, etc.)

3.) We pick one submission every week and publish the draft along with comments from an experienced instructor.

I hope you will find this experiment valuable.  We are looking forward to your submissions and comments.

Take care,

Marin Baraba aka Plejades
