  1. ‘Third essence scatter or first walking corpse. I’m going to take the corpse. I don’t think we need that many essence scatters.’
I understand that if you have only essence scatter in your deck you are not going to win and that essence scatter without creatures is worth their worst card because you basically have to counter whatever they play. Still, I don’t think the critical number is near 2 (I think I would take the 4th essence scatter before the 1st walking corpse most of the times).

Anyway, thanks for this video and the clan invitation!

  2. I can see where you’re coming from Viddle, though I did like the corpse pick over the 3rd scatter. In this format I feel you can really slow an opponent down with a vanilla 2/2 on your side of the table, or your opponent will just ram into it with their own early guys offering possible trades. In either case a U/B deck is happy. Good vid by the way, I’m always happy to push traffic here (MTGOAcademy/Limited Resources) for Limited advice.

  3. With black ring, you want the Walking Corpse.

Such a tragedy you didn’t take the first lich, then the second lich, then make a sweet lich deck. Could’ve picked up enough artifacts to make it work. Winning isn’t the most important thing when you can have style instead.

  4. I don’t like Augur of Bolas in your deck at all. It does two things that are unfortunate:

    1) Rarely nets you card advantage considering you are only running 6 spells. This isn’t as bad as the second.

    2) Makes most spells you would draw with it significantly worse since they work best when the opponent doesn’t know about them. Only Sign in Blood is not affected by this, but having the others be known before you play them gives your opponent information he can use to get an edge.

    Thanks for the free content!

  5. Very interesting that you had Kenji come on afterwards to review the games. That is a feature I’d be interested to see again in future drafts.
I’m having a hard time understanding why you bothered to draft and run cards like tormented soul, augur of bolas and archeomancer. You have a strange combination of aggro and control cards in this deck. Tormented soul is a waste of a slot. You have no enchantments and only 2 exalted creatures to pump it up. You’re not running enough spells for the augur and archeomancer. Maybe I run the augur in this spot if I am low on playables since at least it can block well in the early game. But, I’m not playing archeomancer with so few spells in a black heavy deck.
Also, why are you bothering with evolving wilds? It just slows you down by a turn if you draw it at the wrong time. You’re not splashing and the color requirements are not heavy. You end up including it “for value” but what value are you getting? Are you playing it just to thin the deck?
I really think your deck was weak enough that you needed the splash for pacifism and I would’ve drafted the oblivion ring as well.

  6. In the replay, you guys seem to be under the impression that removing a Void Stalker (with Unsummon/Divine Verdict) will stop its ability. It won’t, the Knight of Glory will be shuffled away either way.

Now, if he did have an Unsummon he could save his Knight of Glory, but Void Stalker’s ability fizzles and you get to keep it in play. Plus, I don’t think you could play around that anyway.

  7. You went back and looked at your mistakes, but you did it too late. It started when you somehow picked a Duty-Bound Dead, which is probably the worst creature of all time. Ant then chose to play it. Look at your replays. it did nothing. By nothing, I mean, it did nothing that any other nonland card in magic would not have done better. Seriously, your mistake started in drafting.

    Otherwise, was fun.
