  1. After watching all these videos, I have determined that you’d be an awesome guy to share a beer with.

  2. When he double-blocks your crusher with his crusher and drone, why didn’t you just heat ray the drone? Your crusher survives because of the Purist and you annihilate from there.

  3. M2G2 you say “unfortunetely I can’t heat ray” but you completely can on his drone and then 2 for 1 him including killing his crusher and then proceed to mop the floor with him with your crusher

  4. Yeah M2G2 you should have heat ray. You probably would loose in the 3rd game against a such broken black-deck.
Anyway nice to see ROE. I really liked the wall-strategie, but somehow the bigger guys tend to win more ;)
Keep up your good videos, thx!

  5. Completely agree with Prism. I, for one, was shouting at the screen, kill the 4/1. If you had done that then you would have won the game, as he wouldn’t have been able to cast his big guns.
That being said, I don’t think you would have won the match, because that mono-black deck was just insane!

Anyway, big fan of the content, keep up the good work. As I’ve never drafted Rise with any seriousness it’s nice to see these vids. :)

  6. …… that deck was nuts….. thanks for the content. hope you do a cube this next one1.

  7. Well between watching LRR on their streaming the ROE and Marshall’s first go at it here, I think I will stay away. I here Simon has a great guide for it, but I don’t want to try to become “knowledgeable” in such a short time to try to play this as 4322′s!

I’ll stick to cube and just enjoy watching other’s videos of ROE (just like I did with Modern Masters). Otherwise this would have been a really poor summer for me literally!

  8. Tottaly agree with Marshall. Round 2 opponent’s deck is just STUPID. I was frustrated just watching the games. But after all it’s a card game.Great videos and thank you for a valuable lesson. Magic gets really stupid sometimes, don’t get too serious with it.

  9. These were a fun pair of matches. Especially match 2 — it’s always fun to root for the little guy, i.e., the guy without multiple bombs in a single color.

  10. Man, I should just be watching your round 2 opponent’s strategy videos, the “How to open two copies of the most ridiculous limited bomb guide to winning”

    Just unreal.

    …and kind of hilarious.

  11. man, if this wasn’t mtgo, i would have suspected that guy of sneaking his own cards into that deck

  12. Oh my God, Lust for War, omigod lusferwar, for like three minutes, just straight staring at the screen.

  13. Yeah that was an INSANE deck in Round 2. Probably the most insane I have faced in ROE ever. I really wish I had seen the Heat Ray play :( I just somehow talked myself into the fact that it wouldn’t work out for me, but I was wrong. I’m already thin on win % vs. that deck, zero room for dumb mistakes for sure!

Thanks for watching and commenting guys :)

  14. That round 2 opponent’s deck may have been the best non-cube limited deck I’ve ever seen. I remember on the show you guys talking about how good Drana is and my jaw dropped when I saw him cast the second one.

Sometimes moving in on one color when everyone else is doing other stuff can give you amazing results. I bet a bunch of that stuff got passed because people weren’t playing black.

  15. The last RoE draft I did with my group of friends: one of my buddies LOVED the vent sentinel deck and ‘moved in’ on it expecting to see a bunch of them. He ended up with many overgrown battlements, battle ramparts, etc. but exactly 0 vent sentinels :) No one was cutting, either, just bad luck I guess.

I was more of an aura gnarlid fan, myself, but this format was super fun. Thanks for posting!

  16. That guy must have still been laughing for twenty minutes after clicking submit after the draft portion… insane deck!

  17. Round 2 was me. Sorry!

And yes, I’m aware how stupidly, unrealistically lucky I got. Opened Consuming Vapors, Drana, and the second Drana, then got passed a second Consuming Vapors. Here’s the full decklist: http://oi43.tinypic.com/2vc6q82.jpg

And no, I didn’t feel particularly skillful this draft, but what was I supposed to do, NOT run two Dranas?

  18. Does it? It works for me, but maybe I goofed and copied a local link. Try this one? http://i43.tinypic.com/2vc6q82.jpg

And yeah, you’re telling me – I was pretty happy when I opened Drana in the second pack, but just kind of cracked up when I saw the second. Then the second Vapors showed up and I lost it. It was certainly kind of surreal having to pause during that first game and worry about whether the new M14 legend rules were in effect on MTGO, or whether I’d have to trade away Drana before I could start bashing with the second one in my hand.

  19. I’ll just echo that deck was unreal… and I enjoyed the video. Rise is awesome, they should make a three set follow up.
