  1. I think you sealed build was correct for the most part.
I would have played 16 lands though and propably added the Horizon Spellbomb + a forest for a mountain.
This way your Vulshok Replica also gets better. Overall I think, if you have Mana Myrs, playing 17 lands is never correct. Even with a high curve. Especially considering that scars sealed is quite slow.

  2. eXXa,

I wish I hadn’t been playing the Sylvok Replica. Also, I normally cut lands, but soooo many huge CC cards made me a bit less greedy. If you count, you’ll notice that I kept the 17th land AND the 24th card. :) I can’t believe that I left a myr in my SB though… embarrabad!

  3. Nice work Chris, you test the format to infinite, you play hard and know all the set tricks, and them you go to a paper event and do it well, i will not speak about the 1st day pool, you do 2nd day in 1500 persons event, so your deckbuild must be fine, is not logical to say “i will put this in place of that, or i will play that one,” in a GP you have your time to deck construction and you must decide what you will do fast, so good job in that.

In the draft, i only have 1 question, but well i ask you online ;)

Nice job mate, next event you will do better for sure.

  4. I played a similar build (Conviction, Phoenix as bombs) in GP Bochum and splashed the Replica like I suggested. I Day 2d with no byes going 8-1-1. In retrospect I should have cut my fourth (!) off color myr and a land for 2 good spells. I did this after talking to a teammate in sideboarding for the last two rounds. This left me with 3 Myrs, Spellbomb + 16 lands, worked perfect.

  5. eXXa, do you have the full decklist still? I’d love to see it (and I think I can format it after you type it). I only used the Replica once, usually siding it out.

  6. Grats on Day 2. I think you HAVE to play trigon and silver myr. As for what I would cut well prolly the Warder (which i hate) for the hellion. prolly cut skygaurd and something like soliton? i dunno what to cut last anyway……you have enough removal to make you not care to much flyers as there are not many in the set. And you get to add silver myr instead which ups metal count. But hey I jsut went 0-2 drop in the PTQ today….so what do i know!

  7. Yes Chris, I actually have my whole pool still. I was pretty proud of myself that day, because it was my first GP, so I keept the deck intact. I’ll put the deck online as soon as I get back home :)

  8. @dragonbgx, top 64 would be around 11-4-1… stupid IDs in paper!

@deathandtaxes, I want to go 0-2 drop in the PTQ on friday :) I really didn’t want to cut my 3 power guy count too low, true conviction just seemed like it would be much better with huge guys.

  9. Can’t believe you didn’t go drafting for the second time – what if there was a Koth inside :P?

    Congrats on Day 2.

  10. Note of dropping before 2nd draft- you get 3 sealed boosters! So, it’s like WotC paid for my lunch (and all I had to do was pay $40 to play Magic for 1.5 days)! Wooweeee~~
