  1. I don’t understand why you were so resistant to going green. URG is quite a good archetype, and green was incredibly open.

  2. Man, losing to manascrew is never fun for either player, but you still put up a hell of a fight in game 2.

I’m curious about if you think DKA coming out will add anything to the Haakon/Loam/Burning Vengeance deck (does that have a name yet?) besides Faithless Looting? It’d be really cool to see you play that after DKA launches.

  3. Why attack with the 2/2 flier in the last game, when he has 8 power on the board? If you leave it back he can’t attack with Imp and he has to consider whether he wants to trade a 3/3. Of course he had a trick, but he probably would have attacked with the imp then, giving away a trick before you would assign blockers. You had a way to handle the petrahydrox and just needed to bide time to draw lands. Trading off for the other 3/3 seems good. You just snap attacked there, which seemed odd.

Thanks for the content. I look forward to new videos of yours every time I see them pop up. Great insight and you talk through everything really well normally.

  4. P1p3 – Siege Wurm and Scatter the Seeds are both awesome. RUG is the nuts in Ravnica. Very strange to see you avoiding it so vigorously.

Simic and Izzet are guild enough for any deck. You passed 2 Assault Zepplids in the final pack.

Dowsing Shaman goes with Seal of Doom or Seal of Fire from the Dissension pack.

Fixing and getting bounce lands is a priority no matter what you think you are playing. The lands are very good, even if they are just Karoos.

    Thanks for the content!

  5. Not sure if you bother to read the comments – but congrats on the PTQ win. I will admit to rooting for AJ, but once you beat him I was pulling for you :). Keep up the good work.

  6. @Ken and Roam-D, I was trying to stick with what I could remember of the format. RUG is a fine strategy but I like where I went with this draft.

@Bryce, Not sure it gets anything besides Looting, but that card certainly makes the deck real. It’ll probably be the first deck I feature once DKA is out, though I’m skeptical about its long-term position in the format.

@wjb147, At the time I was okay with taking damage from Stinkweed Imp, but I think you’re right in that the longer I survive the better so I should have just had another blocker up.

@JONNY, Unfortunately, I can’t consider that deck a real deck. Not only does it take forever to go off, but it is also incredibly weak to tons of hate cards (graveyard hate, dispel, remand, ancient grudge, brindle boar, the list goes on…).

@Roam-D, I understand that they are really good but I don’t think they should be picked all that early in part because you can play any of them in any deck and I don’t particularly want more than 1-2 anyways.

@Marc, Thanks! And yes I do read the comments, though I could probably do with responding to them a bit sooner. :)

  7. Round 2 opponent here, thanks for the good games. My lines both games were pretty much get you to 5 and then use one of 3 Cackling Flames to burn you out. Problem was, I couldn’t seem to draw them against you!

And for the Galvanic Arc play, I meant to put it on my Zeppelin and burn your Drake, but forgot that it targeted when it entered, not when I cast it… Was a little awkward since first strike seems like it would have been useful.

Anyways, good to see my plays from the other side, your deck was easily one of the best that I played against in 10+ drafts over the past couple of weeks.

  8. That was decent, but if you’re going to be in videos, try not to get too cocky when you are running perfect. Your constant proclamations that you had the best deck ever don’t really add anything and it simply wasn’t true, as your last round shows. After the sphinx, the sweet izzet cards and the guildmage your deck took a huge nosedive. It had virtually no answers to anything 3/3 or larger and the set is defined by 4/4 ground guys. To your credit you had a lot of answers for 2/2 flyers, which are ubiquitous in blue, white and black. Any content is great, but try to stay humble if you want people to respect your analysis.
