FYI – the download link for your third round video always seems to be missing “Shipitholla/” in the URL:

For example this time the link is:

    http://videos.mtgoacademy.com/video/SOM_DE_UB_R3.mp4

    But it should be:

    http://videos.mtgoacademy.com/video/Shipitholla/SOM_DE_UB_R3.mp4

    Admin: This is fixed now

The download link for R3 is dead

  3. ChrisKool says:

    Sorry about that- fixed!

This might be a bit biased by hindsight, but I think r4g2 you definitely should have killed paladin and crusader by saccing the pod token and the myr. You couldn’t really have foreseen him going off like he did, but I think getting those two off the board was just too important in that situation.

For those interested, this is a recent version of the deck: http://decks.mtgoacademy.com/Decks.aspx?ID=31646. It’s come a long way.

    @Anon,

I don’t think it was just hindsight as I actually thought that was the play before he passed that turn.

I may just be giving the deck a bit too much respect at this point, but it really can do some sick things from seemingly out of nowhere.

TBH WW is probably the favorite in that match-up but from my perspective you outplayed him, it is probably a bit too early in the development of this metagame to say that definitively, but that is my impression thus far.

PS – My comment from this morning got stuck in ‘moderation hell’ while others have been posted, what gives?

Most of the rounds it seemed you made very good mulligan decisions while the opponents pretty much never mulliganed and kept loose hands quite often. I’d say at least 2 of your wins came from opponents not properly utilizing mulligans.

Nice deck, it looks very interesting. Wish we’d have seen more of the popular aggro decks.

    sup dude.. took long enough

Interesting matches. I am curious to see how the meta develops or if WW will stay the top contender.
Also congrats on winning the PTQ!

This deck seems extremely slow. I wonder what you could do against a good player with a fast deck. Also, I think you play around counterspells too much. If you have 4 Sphinx in your hand, just play one.

I looked at the play in question, and it looks like I didn’t see the play. My rationale for playing Tezzeret and making a 5/5 Perilous Myr was that keeping the Germ token around would keep his Nexi at bay, and the 5/5 would keep the rest at bay. If I did sac the Germ and reequip, killing both of his creatures, I would then have to face 2 Nexi and a Germ with the Sword of War and Peace. The correct play isn’t completely clear to me, but without seeing the outcome (having forgotten it by now), I think you two are probably right.

As for the deck, and it being too slow, this is my latest version that I will probably be playing in the MOCS: http://decks.mtgoacademy.com/Decks.aspx?ID=33800

Oh, yes. The latest version seems much faster with the 4 Tezzeret, 4 Sphere of Suns, 2 Batterskulls.
