Adios, compadre! (Me to Zur the Enchanter, circa 0100 EST, December 21, 2009.) That’s right, this deck is no longer Rec-Zur, but rather the same old deck Rec-Sur. I found Blue to be more of a liability than an asset. Perhaps there is a Rec-Zur decklist out there that turns heads and wins friends (in addition to games), but it sure ain’t the Green-Black-White base version!
No fear, no fear- this deck is still loads of fun (and loads of good). Compatriot and affiliate so many trolls and I played it in the December 19, 2009, Weekend Challenge (where trolls got first place), and I finished at a lowly ninth place, daddy trolls brought home a trophy with our baby).
The differences between our two lists were minimal. He played Wall of Blossoms, Primal Command, and Yavimaya Elder while I played a little treefolk package of Doran, the Siege Tower, Nameless Inversion, and Treefolk Harbinger.
My package was meant to be proactive, while his more controlling. It should be noted that the three card difference was not the deciding factor between our final standings. I threw away two games in my infinite hunger and sloppiness. (Astonished? Unfortunately, I’m not…)
Beyond my minimal commentary, stay tuned for a full Deck Tech video by trolls on the list. It’s a full length feature in duration, so all bases are covered. Look for Travis’s cinematic debut on December 31!
Now that everything is done, I am sad that I have to move on to another month and another three decks! But such is life. A brief warning: next month will not be like the others. It’s my birthday! (You care, you care!) Okay, there is something serious. Next month I will be swapping formats: 100 Card Singleton will take the back burner and I will visit Standard Singleton. (Like I said, it’s my birthday month… aka my lazy month!) This also means that the traditional Control, Aggro, Combo construction of the column will be cast aside. Hey, it’s not my fault that Standard Singleton is almost all “good stuff” designs! Anyway, you’ve been warned: next month = different.
