Training “Sneak Preview”

January 18, 2010 by: Marin Baraba

Hello everyone!

Recently I have mentioned in our forums and various discussion boards that we will be introducing a new interactive experience here at The Academy: Training. The goal is to help players improve their Limited and Constructed format skills. On our Training page you can find a sneak preview of our most basic module: “Sealed Deck Challenge.” You can download a Zendikar Sealed pool from a real tournament, upload it to the Deck Editor, and build the best deck possible in 30 minutes. Don’t forget to save it! Within a week we will publish a video showing one of our top online player contributors (Rating 1900+) using the same pool to build a deck. You can pose questions, criticisms, and comments in the area beneath the video, all of which our expert will address. Take advantage of this new feature and download the pool today!

Stay tuned for more advanced features on our Training page in the immediate future.

Until then happy deckbuilding,

Marin Baraba (Plejades)

The first Zendikar sealed pool contained two foil rares. So the total number of rares/mythics you are working with is eight. MTGO is also not loading one card correctly – AEther Figment. Please add this card to your pool in case you want to use it.
    Have fun everyone!

hmmm as someone who has never played Zen sealed before, this is quite interesting…though maybe what i heard is right R/B seems heads and shoulders above everything else.

    Hello ShardFenix,

I think that you really have to build your deck according to the pool you get. You will find that often you don’t have the luxury to pick your color combination. So it might be true that R/B is theoretically the best choice IF you get the right cards but that is often not then case. See this as an exercise to do the best you can with the resources you are provided. Obviously your choices are limited….
